VISHWAROOPAM - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Vishwaroopam is a powerful song by Suraj Jagan which will be an instant chart buster. Thupakee Thone Jeevitham begins with English lyrics which is seriously awesome (Wish it had only English lyrics) but later converts into Telugu song and finally ends up as mediocre song. Undalaenandhi Naa Kannu is a WONDERFUL classical song, Kamal Haasan spirited vocals uplift the song and this is the song which Rahman tweeted in twitter. Anu Vinasa Varshamidhi is a sorrow song by Nikhil D'Souza and Kamal Haasan which has some global touch. Vishwaroopam (Remix) is also good but the original version leaves a strong effect. S-E-L reach their expectations. This is a Class Album.

KADALI - AR Rahman

Chitti Jabili starts off with a child crying followed by vocals of Vijay Yesudas which is a pleasant song and also a typical AR Rahman song. Yaadike is a mix of Indian and Western beats and Sid Sriram delivers it very well with his vocals. Pachchani Thota is a WONDERFUL romantic song by Abhay Jodhpurkar and Harini which changes your mood. This song haunts you. Yele Jelle catches your attention instantly which has AR Rahman vocals and he composes this song well. Gunjukunna is the best soundtrack in this album which has soft vocals of Shakthisree Gopalan. BRILLIANT! Yet an another superb soundtrack which has Haricharan's high pitch vocals in Mamathe Neevule which reminds us of Rahman's old songs but the chorus is really good. Magidi Magidi is an amazing fast paced song and singer's vocals are amazing especially Aryan Dinesh's vocal. Kadali audio worth's its hype. AR Rahman-Maniratnam combo strikes again. A Musical treat for music lovers.

PIZZA - Santosh Narayanan

Starts off well with Rathrulo (Decent Version) which is pub number by male singer, Haricharan. Na Cheli is a pleasant song by Pradeep. Enta Parugulata is an experimental hard rock song which is well composed. Oka Roju Rathri (Theme song) begins slowly with bell chimes and piano notes but later, it picks up the pace when the drums are used. Rathrulo (Rowdy Version) is a remix of decent version by female singer, Ananya. Na Cheli - Prelude is an instrumental song which is mesmerizing. Wake Up has some interesting sound mixing patterns and singers (Vineeth, Haricharan and Ananya) sing this song well. Beware!! Dhinakkutha might put you to sleep. Luck favours the brave. Overall, A Good Experimental Album.

2012 ANALYSIS

Choosing the best song, best album and the best composer isn't easy. There were many good albums in this year. Below are the songs which i liked this year. I am not a great fan of mass songs. I considered only straight films. Dubbed films weren't considered.

BEST SONGS

1. Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum (Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum)
This is 9 min song but wonderfully composed by Mani Sharma. It is not easy to compose such songs. Background music was a treat.

2. Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu)
Mickey J Meyer's best composition till date. Outstanding song. Chitra's vocals uplift the spirit of the song. This is the Best Song of the Year.

3. Nene-Nanine (Eega)
Keeravani-Rajmoulli combo never failed. Nene-Nanine was composed well especially when singers hum arey arey o o.

4. Oke Oka Jeevitham (Mr. Nookaya)
6 min song and Yuvan composed this slow song fabulously which has meaningful lyrics. Haricharan uplifts the song with his spirited vocals.

5. Ruler (Dhammu)
Keeravani composed this song very well. Top class. Especially the background music when singers sing ruler. Prudhvi Chandra sung this song and kudos to him and Keeravani.

6. Vellipove Vellipove (Mem Vayasuku Vacham)
It has a combination of wonderful lyrics and wonderful composition. Especially the usage of violin in the middle of the song stands out. This song is about Hero's feeling when Heroine leaves him. Sekhar Chandra is really good in giving such songs.Wonderful song.

7. Ko Antey Koti (Ko Antey Koti)
Wonderful composition by debutant Shakthikanth. Heavy metal song though it has some offensive language. This is an experimental song. Credit goes to the composer for composing such songs

8. Yemito (Andala Rakshasi)
This song was well composed by debutant Radhan. Haricharan vocals are impressive. It was a chart buster upon its release.

9. Vela Talukutarale (Routine Love Story)
When Karthik sings such romantic tracks you will surely love it. His vocals are apt for this song. Pleasant background music by Mickey J Meyer. This is a typical Mickey J Meyer's song.

10. Lachhamma (Ishq)
This song went viral in youtube upon its release. It is well composed pop song. This song was a chart buster and a milestone in Anoop Ruben's career.

MUSIC DIRECTORS

1. Devi Sri Prasad
DSP doesnt reach our expectation. Gabbar Singh, Julayi, Damarukam, Sarocharu and Mirchi. Though his Gabbar Singh, Julayi and Damarukam were mediocre hits but they were not great. I was disappointed with his compositions. Miss those Bommarillu, Adhurs, Arya days.

2. Thaman
Thaman was off radar this year. Love Failure, Nippu and Naayak were his only releases in this year. Love Failure was a sleeper hit whereas, Nippu was utter non sense and Naayak album was a decent hit. Mixed year for Thaman.
P.S. : Though Businessman was released in 2012, its audio was released on 22 Dec, 2011. Hence, it wasnt considered in 2012 analysis

3. Yuvan Shankar Raja
2 albums were released i.e., Mr.Nookaya and Dhenikaina Ready (looks like he dedicated this year to Manchu's family). Every song was a chart buster in Mr. Nookayya soundtrack. Mr. Nookayya is the best album of 2012 almost covering every genre in this single album. Dhenikaina ready doesn't meet its expectation. Hope he signs many more telugu films in 2013.

4. Anoop Rubens
It has been good year for Anoop Rubens. He was recognized for his work in Poolarangadu, Ishq (along with Aravindh Shankar) and Lovely (looks like he is having a dealing with Aadi). Every album was decent hit and Lachhamma from Ishq went viral on youtube this year. Memorable year for Anoop Rubens. He was in the film industry since 2004 but got recognized in 2011 for Prema Kavali.

5. Mani Sharma
He is a perfect example of 'Form is Temporary but Class is Permanent'. Raccha, Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu and Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum. He was off radar since long time until KVJ even though he bagged big projects like Raccha and CGTR. He dissapointed everyone until KVJ but KVJ was CLASSIC. No composer can compose songs like KVJ title song even AR Rahman cant.

6. Mickey J Meyer
This guy known for his pleasant albums. In my view, he is a mood changer. Though he copies from his own tunes, I love his music composition. Life Is Beautiful, Routine Love Story and Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu were his compositions in 2012. Not even a single album bombed. He is not getting recognized properly though his albums are melodious. SVSC was the biggest project in his career and he lived up to his expectations. He is just restricting himself to melody songs not trying any other genre. He is the best Music Director of 2012. Disappointingly, he didn't sign any project till now after SVSC.

7.Chakri
Horrible year for this music director. He is a talented director but very lame.

8. Ilayaraja
After long time, maestro comes back to Tollywood with Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu and Gundello Godari. The comeback was good. YVM reached its expectations but GG didnt.

9. GV Prakash Kumar
He composed Endukante Premanta and Ongole Gitta (Looks like he had dealing with Ram this year). Endukante Premanta was a mediocre album.

10. Sunil Kaashyap
This guy has good music sense. He worked under AR Rahman. He was the composer for Vennela 1 1/2 and Naa Style Naadhe. Vennela 1 1/2 was good but Naa Style Naadhe was horrible. This is another composer who is not at all getting recognized for his good composition.
P.S. : Though Ayyare was released on 20th January, 2012 but its album released on 3rd August, 2011. Hence, it wasn't considered in 2012 Analysis.

 11. MM Keeravani
Keeravani had a good time in this year with Dhammu, Eega and Shiridi Sai. Dhammu and Eega songs were chart busters upon release. I would have preferred him as the best composer if SVSC wasn't a huge success.

12. Kalyani Malik
SS Rajmoulli prefers only his elder brother, Keeravani but not him, dont know why. Kalyani is also a talented director. This year he composed Ala Modalaindi and Adhinayakudu. Both were decent. Composing a good album for Balakrishna is not an easy job. He reached his expectations for Adhinayakudu considering Balakrishna as hero. A decent year for Kalayani Malik

13. Joshua Sridar
After Sega, one expects a lot from Joshua. This year's his only composition was Genius. It is good album but not as good as Sega. He is very good composer. Hope he signs few more telugu films.

14. Sekhar Chandra
Had just one album in his hand, Mem Vayasuku Vacham. It is a very good album. Dont know why he is unable to stand in this industry. (Ravi babu's music director)

15. Karthik Raja
Many thought Tuneega Tuneega was a debut album for Karthik Raja in tollywood but it was his second album. Earlier, he composed Akash's Yuganiki Oka Premikudu. Tuneega Tuneega was a good album. All songs were good and Dhigu Dhigu Jabili was fantastic.

16. Raghu Kunche
He was the composer for Devudu Chesina Manushulu which received good reviews from critics. He was a singer earlier so he is expected to bag some projects in 2013.

17. Selvaganesh
This Tamil composer composed Siva Manasulo Shruti. This album wasn't recognized but overall, it was a good album.

NEW COMERS

1. Radhan (Andala Rakshasi)
Radhan was the first composer to get recognized for his work. Wonderful songs. Yemito was an instant hit upon release. Manasu Pallike was also good sorrow song. He didn't sign any films yet after Andala Rakshasi.

2.Shakthikanth Karthik (Ko Ante Koti)
Songs were great. I didn't expect a new composer to compose such wonderful songs. Bangaru Konda was really really soothing. Normally, new composers wont get recognized but he is getting recognized because of Ko Ante Koti team's publicity. A talented composer deserves to stay in tollywood. He is the best debutant Music Director of 2012.

3. Karthik (Okkadine)
An established singer who turned into a music composer with Okkadine which was a good album. He will surely bag few more films in 2013.

4. J.B (Ee Rojullo, Bus Stop)
Ee Rojullo and Bus Stop were sensational hits though they were small films. He was the composer for both of them (looks like he is having bonding with Maruthi). This composer will surely impress mass audiences with his composition. Personally, I don't like his composition. He might bag biggie as Maruthi next venture is under Allu Arvind's banner, Geetha Arts.

 FORGOT TFI

1. Harris Jayaraj
His last album, Orange was the best romantic album ever in tollywood. This composer gave us a sensational album in 2010 since then he signed only a single Telugu film (might be because he was considered as iron leg in TFI) which is expected to be a bilingual, Brundavanam Lo Nandakumarudu.

2. AR Rahman
Though his last composition, Puli failed to impress it's audio sales reached a total of 3 lakhs of CDs in the first three days, which was an all-time record in Telugu film history.. This composer doesn't even have time to sign a single Telugu project. Sources say that he also signed a bilingual film like Harris Jayaraj (Not Confirmed yet).

3. Rahul Raj
He is known as the 'hit machine' of  Malayalam film industry. He impressed every one with Oh My Friend which was his first telugu project. Though his album was a hit, he wasn't recognized. He also received Best Debut Music Director for Oh My Friend in Maa Music Awards in 2011.

Thank You for Reading this post and making this blog successful. About 1000 people viewed this Telugu blog which makes me immensely happy. Hope you are satisfied with my reviews. Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

VETADU VENTADU - Yuvan Shankar Raja

Chiguraku Veede must be hero's introductory song which is decent song. Karunya's vocals didnt really suit in Andam Andam (Sreerama Chandra should have been preferred over Karunya). Silala Brathuke is an experimental song which fails to impress and once again vocals (of Hema Chandra) are big let down. Yuvan disappoints you with his compostion in Raja Nee Mungitlo so as Geetha Madhuri as far as vocals are concerned. Vennellona Aduthunna is a duet song by Deepu and Malvika which is decent number. Yuvan doesn't reach his expectations and also singers let this album down.

NAAYAK - SS Thaman

Starts off with a fast paced energetic song, Laila O Laila by Haricharan and Rahul Nambiar but has unnecessary Hindi lyrics. Kathi Lanti Pilla by Thaman himself and Shefali Alvaris which has Thaman's template all over it. Subhalekha Raaskunna is a remix of Ilayaraja's song in Kondaveeti Donga. Shreya Goshal does a decent job but Haricharan's vocals lets the song down. Oka Choopuke Padipoya by Vijay Prakash and Bindu Mahima which is an average number. Nellorae is mass song by Jaspreet Jasz and Suchitra which is a predictable song but enjoyable and also well composed. One expects Hey Naayak to be a powerful song because of its subtitle 'The Leader' but it is peppy and rustic. A Satisfying album for Ram Charan's fans.

LOVE TO LOVE - Colonial Cousins, Pravin Mani

Starts off with a bad song, Nerchukuntame even the lyrics are bad. Andarilo is the best soundtrack in this album which is very well composed and soothing to hear. Zara Zara is a fast paced song and an average number. Jeevitham is a pleasant song which has Suchith Sureshan's voice. Shankar Mahadevan is completly wasted in Cheruva Ayna and the output of this song is horrible. Kanulo is another pleasant song by Adnan Sami and Sujatha. Ends with an another average number, Kurisene. An album that falls under average category.

SEETHAMMA VAKITLO SIRIMALLE CHETTU (SVSC) - Mickey J Meyer

Yem Cheddaam is a fast paced song and must be hero’s introduction song sung by Ranjith, Karthik and Sreerama Chandra. Aaraduguluntada song describes about one of the hero's (might be Mahesh Babu) which is well sung by Kalyani. The title song, Seethamma Vakitlo is AMAZING with meaningful lyrics and Chitra's voice takes this song to another level which is surely a chart buster. Inka Cheppale is a romantic duet which has Rahul Nambair's and soulful Shweta Pandit's vocals. Mari Antaga is the only solo male song which is wonderfully sung by Sreerama Chandra and it is composed completely in Mickey's style (You will like it instantaneously if you are a Mickey's fan). Another chart buster. Vaana Chinukula, a peppy duet song by Karthik (such songs are cake walk for him) and Anjana Sowmya. Finally, the album ends with wonderful wedding song, Meghaalo which has Karthik's and Sreerama Chandra's vocals. A Mickey J Meyer's Magical Composition. AN ALBUM TO REMEMBER!

"I spent many sleepless nights to compose SVSC songs" -
Mickey J Meyer
"SVSC is a Masterpiece album" - Mahesh Babu
"I always love Mickey's songs, he is on the top of my playlists after AR Rahman" - SS Thaman

GAJARAJU - D.Immam

Yevuraina about elephant care takers (hero's introduction) and it is an average number. Kanne Sogasulu is a mediocre song but well sung by Naresh Iyer  Ayayayoo Aanandhamey is melody song sung by Haricharan. Cheppinaadhey Thana Premani is a wonderful romantic song, very well composed and Chinmayi's and Ranjith's vocals are biggest asset. Soi Soi is a fast paced folk song and Magizhini Manimaaran's vocals are perfect. Nu Eppude Pilla is well composed with vocals of Alphons Joseph. Violin is well utilized in A Lady And The Violin and Shwetha Mohan's vocals are impressive. Except for Yevuraina, rest all songs are good especially Cheppinaadhey Thana Premani. Overall, it is a good album

[ EMPTY ] - Srinivas Viswanadha

All songs are sung by either Hema Chandra or Sunitha. Hrudhayame has an interesting background music and Hema Chandra sings well. Sandhyavela is absurd and Sunitha's sharp voice dissapoints. Yendhuko is a sorrow song and well composed. Kadalilo also has an interesting background music composition. Sakhiya is well composed with impressive Hema Chandra and Sunitha vocals. Overall, it is not a bad album and undoubtedly, Srinivas Viswanadha is a talented director. Worth listening for its background music.

GUNDELLO GODARI - Ilayaraja

SPB voice would have suited in Gundello Godari but composer sings well and it is a good song. Jillumandi is fast paced song by Andrea and Hema Chandra. Veechaani Vayasu is a remix of Ilayaraja's song, Machaana paatheengala from Annakkili and Geetha Madhuri impresses with her vocals (lucky to sing under Ilayaraja's composition). Nanu Neetho is a melody song which is well composed and well sung by Ilayaraja's daughter, Bhavatharini. Mano sung wonderfully in the folk song, Ekkadundi Naa Kodi. Aa Eedhi Kurrodu is a mass song by Ramya. Raathri has good music but dont know why only tamil lyrics were included in the song (looks like Ilayaraja wants us to learn some Tamil). Maestro takes you to 90's feel but this album may not appeal youth.

KO ANTE KOTI - Shakthikanth Karthik

This album is sandwiched between two heavy beat songs. Ko Ante Koti has an interesting tune with mass lyrics and Suraj Jagan delivers it wonderfully. Naresh Iyer vocals perfectly fits in O Madhurimave and it is well composed. Varaala Vaana is a romantic duet, well composed and impressive vocals of Hariharan and Priya Hemesh. Bangaru Konda is BRILLIANT with its soothing tune and wonderful Harini vocals. Aagipo is a melody song and has Karthik and Shwetha Mohan vocals. Drums are well utilized in Deham Daaham which is well sung by composer, Shakthikanth himself. All songs are good to hear. Shakthikanth Karthik is a greatest find in tollywood. Wondrous start by Shakthikanth Karthik in tollywood. A stand out album!!!

MIDHUNAM - Veenapani

Aadi Dampatalu is a wonderful song with meaningful lyrics. Evaru Gelicharippudu, well sung by Jamuna Rani. Aavakaya Mana Andaridi tune is completly copied from Brundavanamadi Andaridi with stunning SPB vocals and it is satirical song on current generation. Coffee Dandakam is another satirical song on wives. Aata Kada Jananalu is a slow song with KJ Yesudas vocals. This is a stupendous album for old citizens.

SAROCHARU - Devi Sri Prasad

Intially Made For Each Other reminds you of Mee Intiki Mundu from Julayi for the first 10 seconds though it is a decent song. Jaga Jaga Jagadeka Veera is a romantic duet song and DSP has composed well. People will start humming Raccha Rambola because of its catchy title and the song is equally catchy with Javed Ali vocals. Gusa Gusa is a good melody song but has nothing new in it. Kaatuka Kallu has a mass touch in it and Shweta Mohan's melodious vocals (idea must be copied from Orugalluke Pilla from Sainikudu). Not a stupendous album from Devi Sri Prasad but continues his form!!

CHAMMAK CHALLO - Kiran Varnasi

Boom Boom is a fast beat song which is well composed. Simplega Cheppala is a mediocre melody song. Chandamamapai stands out, it is an interesting song, well composed and Sri Krishna vocals uplift the song. Composer tried to compose Yedo Maikam differently but doesnt impress you. O Meri Mehabooba is an enjoyable song and Varun Sandesh vocals suit the song. It would have been a nice song if beats were avoided avoided in Naa Kallalona. Katrina is a fast paced song and Hemachandra sings well. Naalone has sad lyrics and could have been better if it was a sorrow song. It would have been a better album if the composer, Kiran Varnasi had placed a silent romantic song and avoided beats in some songs (too much drums work) but overall it is a decent album

MADE IN VIZAG - Avinash Vishwajith

The composer fails to utilize SPB in Jayaho Vizag and the output is horrible. Kalame Thanu starts off well but later turns into a boring song. Ededho Ayyindi is well composed and Shravana Bhargavi and Hema Chandra are well utilized. Bahusaa makes you remind Manisharma's Bahusa Vo Chanchalaa from Varudu but singer Pavan impresses with his vocals. Ramachilakamma is a mediocre song. This album is a mixed bag.

NAKILI - Vijay Antony

Makkayaala is well composed with good electronic beats, good string interludes and some raps makes this song an interesting cocktail. Pidikedu Hryudayamida is a sad song which is sung by composer, Vijay Antony himself but fails to impress. Thappedi Thappekadu has catchy composition and well sung by singers. Maaraninche Naa Gatham is also sorrow situational song and Deepak sings well. Overall, it is a good album.

GENIUS - Joshua Sridar

Chirigina Notu has wonderful beats and Benny Dayal takes this song to another level with his vocals. Yevevo Kalale has a wonderful tune and Shweta Mohan's vocals are another asset. Ambani Alludaina is well composed and has good lyrics. Yedada Yedada has bad composition which doesnt impress you at all. Ye Naavu Vennakala has meaningful lyrics and Shankar Mahadevan sings well but has a same tune like Ambani Alludaina. Allah Nesthama is a sorrow song and Kailash Kher vocals are absurd and spoils this song. Dibiri Dibiri is an energetic item song sung by Priya Himesh (looks like Ringa Ringa singer confined only to sing item songs). Om Om Haraha is fast paced song, Haricharan uplifts the song with his spirited vocals and Joshua Sridar composes well. This is undoubtedly a good album from Joshua Sridar but not as good as Sega.

YETO VELLIPOYINDI MANASU - Ilayaraja

Yedhi Yedhi is a slow song and it is good to hear. Koti Koti is an enjoyable song and Karthik impresses you with his vocals. Atu Itu is a rock song and Sunidhi Chauhan uplifts the spirit of the song. Ilayaraja himself sung Laayi Laayi which is a melody song  takes you to the 90's feel. Naachaledhu Maava starts of well with fast beats but disappoints you at the later stages as it turns into folk song. Yenthentha Dhooram has a beautiful instrumentization and Karthik's vocals elevate the song. Ardhamayyindhinte Inthena must be the song during Nani's frustation regarding Samantha. Inthakaalam is a slow paced, soft song and looks like a situational song. This album impresses you only on repeated listening, it is a slow poison.

KRISHNAM VANDE JAGADGURUM - Mani Sharma

Starts the album well with Ararey Pasi Manasaa. Sye Andre Nannu is a good mass song and Shreya Ghosal's vocals enlightens the song even more.Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum is 9 minutes song which is wonderfully composed by Mani Sharma and SPB vocals are asset. Only Mani Sharma can compose such songs BRILLIANT!!! Spicy Spicy is spicy enough. Ranga Marthanda is also a good song and well composed with good lyrics. Chal Chal Chal has good vocals of Joanne and it gives a feeling that you are hearing a English song. The Album ends with Parinamam which is an instrumental song. Manisharma produces such a wonderful album after long time. Must listen!

OKKADINE - Karthik

Though Seethakoka Naachave sounds familiar it is sung well by Karthik. Hey Po is the best song in this album wonderfully sung by Swetha Mohan and well composed. Dola Dola is a very slow song, impressive and Vijay Prakash doesn't let it down with his vocals. Puttintollu Tharimesaru is absurd. Hola Hola has nothing to offer. Impressive telugu debut by Karthik as composer

THUPPAKI - Harris Jayaraj

Thuppaki starts with Chinni Chinni which doesnt impress you. Antartica song was strictly ok and the word Nisha was used many times which indicates that Kajal's name is Nisha. Mari Selavika song is sung beautifully by Karthik even lyrics were good and the best soundtrack in this album. Google Google looks like a pub song it remainds you Aga naga sogasa from Rangam but it is a good one. Vennalave is boring, Harris fails to utilize Haricharan and bombay Jayashree properly. Alaika Laika doesnt impress you much though it was sung by Javed Ali. Finally ends with a good Theme song (Jagadish On Mission). Harris Jayaraj's bad run continues. All eyes on Selvaraghavan's Brundavanam Lo Nandakumaradu

ROUTINE LOVE STORY (RLS) - Mickey J Meyer

Sreerama Chandra starts the album with Naa Manasupai which is routine. Neethone Unna is sung by Mickey J Meyer himself and it doesn't fail to impresses you. Vela Talukutaarale is brilliantly composed, refreshing, very pleasant and Karthik vocals are another asset. Yeppatikaina is strictly ok though it is sung by Naresh Iyer. Though Mickey has sung Naa Manasupi well and it is also a good song but it reminds you of Atu Itu (Life Is Beautiful) and Aunana Kaadana (Leader) and the album ends with a wonderful Routine Love Story Theme song. A pleasant album from Mickey J Meyer
